Victoria’s diversity is our strength. We speak nearly 300 languages, cheer on dozens of sports teams, and celebrate countless different holidays. Our state has the first Treaty in the country. That’s something to celebrate.
Politicians trying to pit communities against each other is nothing more than a dangerous distraction tactic and it’s time to call out this brand of politics.

Choosing community over division
Right now, we’re seeing billionaires and big corporations getting richer – while everyday people struggle to make ends meet.
Instead of coming to the table with ways to help people doing it tough, One Nation and the Liberal National parties want to distract us: whipping up culture wars and attacking Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and multicultural communities.
Instead of trying to divide neighbour from neighbour, politicians should focus on the issues that matter to Victorians from all walks of life: like having a safe place to call home, access to a good education, and being able to see a doctor when we need one.
No matter where we’re born, who we worship or the colour of our skin, everyone deserves respect, freedom and the chance to build a good life.

This election, Victorians have an opportunity to show the kind of place we want to be. One where our diversity makes us stronger. Where politicians want to bring communities together, not divide them.
Across the state, folks are attending trainings, volunteering in their communities, and chatting with family and friends.
Because every conversation we have, every sign we put up and every person we reach helps build the momentum needed to say No Room for Racism in our politics.
